Little Boy Who Donated Piggy Bank To Vandalised Mosque Gets Special Thank You From Muslim Community

On Monday, seven-year-old Jack Swanson from Texas emptied his piggy bank to lend a hand to his local mosque which had been vandalised in the stir of the Paris attacks.

Jack handed over his total savings, which were $20 (£13) to help the Islamic Center of Pflugerville, after his mum Laura told him about the damage.

Faisal Naeem, who sits on the mosque’s board, said of Jack’s donation: ‘It’s 20 bucks, but coming from Jack collecting his pennies it’s worth 20 million bucks to me and to our community.’

‘This gives me hope because this means it’s not one versus the other,’ he added.

And it seems his sentiment was shared by the Muslim community.

Because this week Jack received a special thank you in the post – a brand new iPad.

Also included with the parcel was a note which read: ‘Dear Jack, you had saved $20 in your piggybank for an Apple iPad. But then a local Islamic mosque was vandalised. So you donated your $20 to this local Texas mosque. Because of your amazing generosity & kind heart.

‘Please enjoy this Apple iPad with our sincere thanks :-). Love The American Muslim Community.’
The gift appears to have been organised by Arsalan Iftikhar (aka the Muslim Guy), an international human rights lawyer, author and editor of The Islamic Monthly Magazine.

He wrote on his website: ‘After I got in touch with his mother…I wanted to make sure that Jack’s generous deed was rewarded…So here is Jack and his brand-new Apple iPad.’

The pictures of the little boy with his new gadget were also shared on Imgur and Jack looks pretty pleased with his delivery.

Which is a great ending to a lovely story.
