However, the two boys died on Friday after the sangoma gave them a muthi enema to clear the drugs from their bodies.

The shattered families told Daily Sun they need answers from the sangoma.

“We took our children to her in the hope they would be cured, but now they’re dead. She must tell us what happened,” said Sibusiso’s gogo, Mirriam Fakude.

The two friends had been staying with the sangoma for three weeks before they died.

Lebogang’s mum, Paulina Lamola, said she didn’t want to point fingers but she wanted to know why the boys were not supervised after they went to sleep.

“The sangoma gave them muthi and then left them alone.

“She should have been there to guard against any bad effects the muthi might have had on our children.”

The families said they will bring the bodies home this week.

“I’m heartbroken. When I sent my son away I never thought it would be the last time I saw him,” said Paulina.

Sibusiso and Lebogang had been admitted to other rehabilitation centres twice.

Major Thulani Zwane said: “The sangoma has not been arrested yet as we are waiting for post mortem results.”
