One Direction cancel Belfast concert as Liam Payne falls ill

One Direction have had to cancel the Belfast concert as Liam Payne fell ill. The band members announced at last minute they had to cancel their Belfast concert because Payne had fallen and in the process breaking the hearts of most of their expectant fans. 

They had been due to play the first of three gigs at the SSE Arena on Tuesday.

The band made the announcement at 9 p.m., when most concertgoers were already inside the venue -- even the opener had already performed, reports the Independent.

Fans booed and cried when they were told to leave. Concert promoter Aiken PR said: "The show tonight has been cancelled as Liam has taken ill, and whilst not serious, he is unable to perform tonight."

Lead singer Harry Style tweeted: "Deepest apologies to everyone at the show tonight in Belfast. Very disappointed, but unfortunately these things happen. We're very sorry."

And band mate Louis Tomlinson wrote on Twitter: "We're so so sorry for what happened tonight, it was out of our control! Lots of love to Liam and thank you for being so understanding!"
