Beer halls in Chitungwiza were made to provide drinking facilities out of sight from minors and other people. Due to the facilities being neglected for a very long time they have now become derelict. These facilities were places were people could enjoy themselves at the same time maintaining their privacy.
Before Chitungwiza Municipality leases these facilities, lets ponder on what could have been the best alternatives.
Upgrade the Infrastructure: Upgrade the in-structure to meet the modern trends. I have observed that people from all walks of life love enjoying their braai whilst drinking and eating local relishes. Renovating the facilities to match the dynamic needs of the new generation would be a noble objective.

The fear that is currently bothering people around Chitungwiza is understandable. Take it this way, if a church is to lease the facilities then the beer halls will become churches. If the beer halls are leased by a college owner then they will become schools. if a company like Econet is to lease the facilities then the beer halls will become Econet Shops. But what will happen to the drinking Public? Would it not be better if they are left in private places rather than out in the open.
I am sure Chitungwiza Municipality employs a Town Planner who is much more conversant with the points that we are trying to make.
