DotComs reports that a Bulawayo has been placed under arrest for allegedly
fondling his stepdaughter’s breasts and buttocks on several occasions. The
47-year-old man from Pumula North suburb abused the 15-year-old girl and was
only apprehended after a neighbour assisted the juvenile in reporting the case
to police.

Magistrate Msipa -Marondedze granted him $20 bail and remanded him to August 19 for trial.
Appearing for the state, Margaret Muhomba said sometime between January and December 2012, the man went to a house in Old Pumula where the juvenile lived with her aunt.
At the time, the girl’s aunt was not at home. “The man called the girl into the sitting room where he started to fondle her breasts and buttocks without her consent,” Muhomba said.
He allegedly told her that she was more beautiful than her mother.
The court heard that the girl did not immediately inform anyone about the incident.
The juvenile later visited her mother who lived in Pumula North together with the accused and she took the opportunity to report the abuse.
Her mother promised talk to her husband about the incident, the court heard.
From January to December 2013, the court heard, the man proposed love to the juvenile, who declined, citing that he was her mother’s husband.
“The man again fondled the complainant’s breast and buttocks as they were sitting in his car. The juvenile didn’t tell anyone about the abuse,” Muhomba added.
Sometime between January and March this year, the man took advantage of the absence of the girl’s mother to fondle her.
“The juvenile informed her mother and a neighbour about the incident. The neighbour later accompanied the girl to Pumula Police Station where she reported the abuse leading to the man’s arrest,” Muhomba told the court. chronicle
