Jose Mourinho Boots Out Doctor Eva Carneiro

Chelsea Boss Jose Mourinho flexed his muscle as he booted out Eva Carneiro from the teams's bench. Eva now faces sacking from her position as the team's doctor in a major shake up just one game into the English Premiership season.

The sacking comes after Chelsea's draw with Swansea City and it raises the question whether Mourinho does not want to take the blame for the cold performance by his lads.The timing of the changes will raise a number of questions after Carneiro was publicly criticized by Mourinho after the match.

It is understood that while Carneiro will remain Chelsea’s first-team doctor, she will not attend training sessions, games or enter the hotel. As things stand, she is not expected to be on the bench for Sunday’s trip to Manchester City.

Carneiro, however, will still carry out her work with first-team players at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground in what is being seen internally as a re-tasking of duties.

There will be minor changes to the role of first-team physiotherapist Jon Fearn, who was given a private dressing down by Mourinho after the Swansea game. With his place on the bench at Eastlands also in doubt, Academy doctor Julian Redhead may have to step up.

It remains to be seen whether Carneiro will accept her new lower-profile role long term, although she is not the only member of Mourinho’s staff to have their working arrangements changed.

Over the summer, Mourinho has made a number of adjustments to the ways in which members of his support staff work and there will be more to follow. The Portuguese has questioned the work of goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon behind the scenes.

Mourinho suggested that Carneiro and Fearn did not “understand the game” after they attempted to treat Eden Hazard in stoppage time of Chelsea’s draw against Swansea.
